Several defense attorneys said Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance would likely retry three Dewey & LeBoeuf executives, and they and some jurors suggested he pare down the indictment, present fewer witnesses and call in some accounting experts.

Ex-chairman Steven Davis, former executive director Stephen DiCarmine and ex-chief financial officer Joel Sanders were acquitted of 58 charges in partial verdicts, but the jury could not decide on 93 other counts, leading Acting Supreme Court Justice Robert Stolz to declare a mistrial on Oct. 19.
