A man whose Internet service company received an FBI National Security Letter seeking information on a client is now free to talk about his 11-year fight following a judge’s ruling.

Nichols Merrill, one-time owner of the Calyx Internet Access, has been litigating for years in the Southern District for the right to discuss the receipt of the National Security Letter (NSL), a form of administrative subpoena the FBI uses to obtain an individual’s list of calls or record of Internet usage in terrorism investigations.
