A Long Island attorney has received a six-month suspension for failing to detect that his firm’s bookkeeper stole $5 million of client money from escrow accounts.

A five-judge panel of the Appellate Division, Second Department, wrote in Matter of James Langione, 2013-00214, that neither James Langione, who received the six-month suspension, nor his law partner Peter Galasso directly took part in the misappropriation, which was committed by Peter Galasso’s brother, Anthony.
