Federal prosecutors say they will appeal Eastern District Judge John Gleeson‘s expungement of a woman’s 13-year-old fraud conviction.

When Gleeson ordered expungement last month in Jane Doe v. United States of America, 14-mc-1412, he noted Jane Doe’s difficulties holding onto a job since the conviction for her minor role in a fraud scheme. Gleeson said he “sentenced her to five years of probation supervision, not to a lifetime of unemployment” (NYLJ, June 3).
