Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman has appointed Alvin Perlmutter to the state Commission on Judicial Nomination, a move that will allow Perlmutter to help find Lippman’s successor.

Lippman appointed Perlmutter to one of the four seats on the commission reserved by law for non-attorneys. Two of the chief judge’s four appointments to the 12-member commission must be non-lawyers, as must two of the four appointees that the governor selects. The four majority and minority leaders of the Legislature also make one pick each to the commission.
