A bill to create an agency to investigate prosecutorial misconduct has been reintroduced in the state Legislature.

The bill, A1131/S0024, would create a commission empowered to investigate complaints of misconduct by district attorneys’ offices and to impose sanctions, including prosecutors’ removal from office. Punishable conduct would include prosecutors’ inability or refusal to properly perform the duties of their offices and their “habitual intemperance,” the measure says.
