The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit hosted a Hands Lecture Wednesday at the Thurgood Marshall Courthouse. Named after first cousins Learned and Augustus Hand, who sat on the court for more than 30 years, the series addresses topics of interest to the judiciary and the bar of the Second Circuit.

Pulitzer Prize-winning author Gilbert King (second from left) delivered the lecture on his book, “Devil in the Grove: Thurgood Marshall, the Groveland Boys, and the Dawn of a New America.” Joining him, from left, are Thurgood Marshall Jr., a partner at Bingham McCutchen; Second Circuit Chief Judge Robert Katzmann; Southern District Judge Paul Engelmayer and Second Circuit Judge Ralph Winter, both of whom clerked for Justice Marshall.
