New York’s Lawyers’ Fund for Client Protection approved awards totaling $6.9 million last year, slightly more than the average annual amount of payments from the fund over the previous 10 years.

The 218 awards approved for the clients of 68 attorneys ranged from $200 to $300,000 in 2013. The average was $6,000, the Albany-based fund said in its annual report. It said the lawyers involved in last year’s awards are suspended, disbarred or dead.
