An unusual case in which residents of a tiny village in Sullivan County are seeking to remove their mayor is headed to the Appellate Division, Third Department.

Two citizens of Bloomingburg accuse Mayor Mark Berentsen of improprieties in a matter involving plans to establish a high-density housing development that would at least triple the village’s population. Bloomingburg is a village in the eastern Sullivan County town of Mamakating. It is situated in an area of less than 200 acres and is home to about 400 people.
