Carnell Foskey, a former judge, was appointed Wednesday as the new Nassau County Attorney. He replaces John Ciampoli, who was removed by County Executive Edward Mangano about a week after Mangano was reelected to a second term. Foskey had been serving as the county’s parks commissioner. He is a former Family Court and District Court judge.

“The administration is reevaluating each position within the county during this transition period to ensure government is operating efficiently and effectively for the residents of Nassau County,” a county executive spokesman said in a statement on the personnel changes.
