A unanimous Appellate Division, First Department panel on Thursday disbarred Bronx attorney Patrick Maruggi for fraudulently executing a deed and converting escrow funds.

Maruggi ran a business that originated mortgage loans to buy and rehabilitate properties in the Philadelphia area, using money from investors. According to the First Department decision, in 2005, Maruggi’s business made a mortgage loan of nearly $95,000 for two properties. The loan was funded by an investor, Ralph Emproto, through a corporation he controlled, LLEM Corp.
