Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman, winner of this year’s Sanctuary for Families’ Abely Award for Leading Women and Children to Safety, shares the spotlight with former chief judge Judith Kaye, now counsel to Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. Samidh Guha, a partner with Akin Gump, received The Abely Pro Bono Achievement Award.
The Abely Award honors the memory of Maryellen Abely, an alumna of Columbia Law School, associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell and pro bono attorney at Sanctuary for Families’ Center for Battered Women’s Legal Services. The award honors individuals who have made a difference in the lives of victims of domestic violence and who embody Abely’s compassion, zeal, energy and dedication.
