Retired Court of Appeals Judge Albert Rosenblatt has such a high regard for the 110-year-old Dutchess County Courthouse that he once mobilized volunteers to scrub the marble in the lobby. Now the structure is being dedicated to Rosenblatt, who worked there for decades as a prosecutor, County Court judge, Supreme Court justice and Court of Appeals judge. There will be a plaque in the lobby bearing his likeness and a summary of his legal career.

A brief dedication ceremony will be held 4 p.m. Thursday to be followed by a reception hosted by the Dutchess County Bar Association at a nearby hotel. County Court Judge Peter Forman (See profile), a former president of the bar association, said that a crowd of about 300 is anticipated. Rosenblatt is a "leading light" of the community, said Forman. "He is a brilliant jurist and a wonderful guy."
