In an unconventional reading of what constitutes a significant change in circumstances following a divorce, a judge has ordered that an ex-husband be given a hearing to present his side concerning some $400,000 in disputed obligations to his ex-wife.
Acting Supreme Court Justice John Colangelo in Westchester County decided that what "changed" in the husband's status is that he was erroneously found to have defaulted by not answering the verified divorce complaint and unfairly prevented from being heard on the outstanding financial issues of the breakup.
