Two attorneys have been disbarred in the wake of their felony convictions for theft. In two separate rulings, the Appellate Division, Second Department, on Wednesday disbarred Eugene M. Banta of Central Valley and Karen Ann Bily of Huntington Station.

After being indicted in Manhattan, Banta pleaded guilty in July 2012 to second-degree criminal possession of stolen property for stealing money from a man's estate. He was later sentenced to five years probation and a restitution order of more than $119,000. Banta, admitted to the bar in 1959, submitted no papers in response to the grievance committee's disbarment motion.
