ALBANY – The state Court of Appeals has ordered a new trial for a man convicted of second-degree murder after finding that his lawyer provided ineffective assistance.
In a separate ruling yesterday, the court decided that the state may seek to force-feed a hunger-striking inmate based on defending the state’s interest in the safe, orderly operation of state prisons.
