Former president Jimmy Carter got a respectful hearing at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law last week after several days of vituperative Internet attacks on the Jewish-affiliated school for allowing an event there to honor a man his critics regard as anti-Israel.

Cardozo’s student-run Journal of Conflict Resolution bestowed upon Carter its annual International Advocate for Peace Award on April 10. Past recipients include Bill Clinton and Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
