A lender that financed the film "Escape From Planet Earth" has been dismissed from a lawsuit brought by writer-director Tony Leech, who alleges that producers Robert and Harvey Weinstein secured the lender’s financing with profits they had already pledged to Leech and his business partner Brian Inerfeld.

The lawsuit, Leech v. The Weinstein Co., 650563/11, filed in March 2011, claims the Weinsteins are "a real life version of Bialystock & Bloom," the fictional duo in Mel Brooks’ film "The Producers" who oversell interest in a Broadway show that they intend to fail. The suit claims the "out-of-control" Weinsteins "sabotaged what should have been a highly profitable movie through a potent combination of hubris, incompetence, profligate spending and contempt for contractual obligations."
