Court administrators warned Orange County officials yesterday that “significant financial sanctions” will be imposed unless the county takes immediate steps to replace court space lost in the wake of flooding nine months ago.

To avoid sanctions, Ronald Younkins, director of operations for the state court system, wrote to Orange County Executive Edward Diana that the county must by Oct. 31 either restore the courts to the space they occupied in the County Government Center before the building was closed on Sept. 8, after appropriate renovations and environmental testing; or they must provide suitable alternative space.
