ALBANY – A no-fault divorce bill once again cleared the state Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday. If the bill becomes law, New York would become the last state in the country to adopt a no-fault divorce provision in its matrimonial laws.

The committee advanced the measure allowing a judgment of divorce in instances where “the relationship between husband and wife has broken down irretrievably” for at least six months, provided the ancillary issues in the breakup such as child custody and equitable distribution of property have been settled.
