A chart yesterday accompanying an article, “Judiciary Budget Projects Rise in Spending,” incorrectly interpreted the growth in the Judiciary Budget from 2004 through 2009, according to the Office of Court Administration. The data for fiscal years 2004-05, 2005-06 and 2006-07 did not include certain categories of expenditures that were included in the data for the more recent fiscal years. Specifically, the data for the earlier fiscal years excluded pension and fringe benefit costs. As a result, the chart understated the Judiciary budgets for fiscal years 2004-05, 2005-06, and 2006-07, and overstated the growth in the budget from 2004 to the present. The figures in the OCA chart below include all categories of expenditures.
