Former New York attorney Mendel Zilberberg was sentenced to 30 months in prison Tuesday for his role in a scheme to obtain a $1.4 million loan from Park Avenue Bank, where he sat as a member of the board.

Benjamin Brafman of Brafman & Associates urged U.S. District Judge George Daniels of the Southern District of New York to impose a non-custodial sentence, arguing that his 65-year-old client’s health issues, lack of a criminal history and past good deeds merit leniency.
