Syngenta has accused a New York neurologist of possibly collaborating with plaintiffs’ lawyers and journalists in a scientific article he co-authored linking its weedkiller paraquat to Parkinson’s disease.

In an Aug. 10 motion to compel with a subpoena that was issued three months ago for documents relating to the 2023 article, Syngenta said plaintiffs’ lawyers may have been involved with, or encouraged, the research by Dr. Earl Ray Dorsey, a professor at the University of Rochester. Plaintiffs’ lawyers in the paraquat multidistrict litigation then “repeatedly” used the research “through their briefing and expert reports,” the motion says.
