Supreme Court Justice Joseph A. Zayas, an associate justice of the Appellate Division, Second Department the past two years, was officially named on Thursday chief administrative judge of the New York State Unified Court System, the highest-ranking administrative position within the state judiciary.
Zayas makes history as the first Latino to serve in the role, a court spokesman said.
