Ukraine’s armed forces aren’t alone in the fight against Russian invasion—its civil society is also on the front lines, and that includes the country’s judiciary. 

Empowered by recently passed laws created for offenses related to the country’s war with Russia—including treason and espionage statutes—Ukrainian prosecutors are investigating some 80,000 alleged war crimes, and 21 such cases have resulted in convictions, said Judge John Walker Jr. of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
