As average surface temperatures and carbon dioxide concentrations ratchet ever upward, so too does the volume of litigation over climate change.
As New York City Bar Association President Susan J. Kohlmann, a partner at Jenner & Block and the latest winner of the New York Law Journal’s annual Attorney of the Year award, noted on April 13 in remarks to the World Law Congress 2023 at the United Nations, in all years before 2017, there were 884 climate-related cases filed in a combined 24 countries.
