Two weeks before the scheduled start of a defamation trial in Manhattan federal court, former President Donald Trump asked for a monthlong “cooling off period” late Tuesday night, arguing that the media coverage surrounding his recent indictment has affected the jury pool.

Trump’s attorney, Joe Tacopina of Tacopina, Seigel & DeOreo, argued that an adjournment until late May “is not merely consistent with justice, it is required by justice and President Trump’s right to an impartial jury.”
