Prosecutors in the Southern District of New York on Thursday announced the indictment of an attorney and an employee in the clerk’s office of the Southern District of New York for an alleged kickback scheme involving the referral of clients in criminal cases.
The clerk, Dionisio Figueroa, allegedly used his involvement in the intake of criminal cases to encourage defendants to retain the attorney, Telesforo “Ted” Del Valle Jr., in return for a portion of Del Valle’s fees, prosecutors said.
