The Bronx County clerk has pleaded guilty to falsely reporting to a court that a reputed foot soldier for the Genovese crime family successfully completed his community service requirements, the New York Attorney General’s Office announced Wednesday.

In addition to entering the plea, Luiz Diaz, 69, who previously represented portions of the Bronx in the New York Assembly, resigned from his county clerk post. He copped to a felony charge of first-degree filing of a false instrument, Attorney General Letitia James said in a news release.
