U.S. District Judge Brian Cogan of the Eastern District of New York on Tuesday granted Brooklyn federal prosecutors’ request for a Curcio hearing to assess potential conflicts of interest involving former Trump inaugural committee chairman Thomas Barrack and his criminal defense attorneys at O’Melveny & Myers, despite Barrack’s assertion that the hearing is not necessary because he will waive any potential conflicts.

“I rarely see any reason to abstain from having a Curcio hearing,” Cogan said. “If it turns into nothing, we all got to see each other for half an hour or something.”
