Legal Aid and Milbank lawyers said they have reached a settlement requiring New York City to finish installing Wi-Fi in family homeless shelters by the end of August, in an agreement that would end litigation aimed at allowing children to attend school remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a stipulation filed Monday in Manhattan federal court, attorneys said that the city government has agreed to install wireless internet in more than 200 homeless shelters and domestic violence shelters that haven’t yet received the updates, bringing connectivity to approximately 11,000 3-K to 12th-grade students across the city.
