Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand added their names Friday to a chorus of lawmakers calling for Gov. Andrew Cuomo to resign, deepening a perilous moment for the third-term governor as he fights to stay in office and ride out a sexual harassment scandal.

“We commend the brave actions of the individuals who have come forward with serious allegations of abuse and misconduct,” the two U.S. senators from New York said in a joint statement Friday afternoon. “Due to the multiple, credible sexual harassment and misconduct allegations, it is clear that Governor Cuomo has lost the confidence of his governing partners and the people of New York.”
