Picking up on one of the most controversial subjects of the 2020 election year, New York Law School has scheduled a free webinar on Monday, Nov. 9, to analyze major legal developments in free speech internationally on social media. Start time is 11 a.m.

The discussion will cover government responses to social-media issues in the United States, France and Europe, including a discussion of the French Supreme Court’s recent rejection of the controversial “Avia Bill,” which would have forced social media platforms to take down posts that qualify as hate speech within 24 hours of posting. Additional subjects under review include Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act and the European Union’s Digital Services Act Package. Panelists will compare European and U.S. regulation of speech.
