Attorneys for Sheldon Silver, the former speaker of the New York State Assembly, on Thursday asked U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg to delay their client’s June 25 resentencing on fraud and corruption charges, as they prepare an appeal.

The filing came just over a week after a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit ruled that the high court was unlikely to take up Silver’s case on appeal, and cleared the way for his sentencing later this summer.
