A panel of the U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals on Wednesday rejected former New York State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver’s bid to delay his resentencing on fraud and corruption charges, as he prepares to take his case to the U.S. Supreme Court.

A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit said a stay of the court’s January decision, which upheld Silver’s conviction on four counts related to real estate kickback schemes, was not warranted because the high court was unlikely to grant certiorari in his case.
