Dean Skelos, a former attorney who was previously one of the most powerful elected officials in state government, was sentenced to four years and three months in prison on Wednesday after being convicted in July of arranging jobs for his son at companies with business before the state.

U.S. District Judge Kimba Wood delivered a lighter sentence for Skelos than the five years he received after his first conviction on the public corruption charges in 2015, citing his advanced age. Skelos is 70 years old.
