Missouri asked the U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday to reinstate a controversial 2021 state law that challenges the validity of several federal gun control statutes and effectively bars local police from enforcing them.

The case involves the U.S. Department of Justice’s challenge to an unusual Missouri law, the Second Amendment Preservation Act, and deals with fundamental questions regarding federalism and the Constitution.
