We’ve said it before: Remote hearings, in one form or another, are here to stay.

Minnesota Senior Judge Kathryn Messerich, who is heading up the state’s effort to develop a uniform process for determining when a court proceeding is heard remotely or in person, made that abundantly clear during an online presentation about remote practice sponsored by the ABOTA Foundation earlier this week. As part of the process behind the oneCourtMN Hearings Initiative that Messerich heads up, the judge and her team have been reaching out to lawyers, litigants, judges and others for their feedback on the benefits and drawbacks of handling certain sorts of matters remotely.
