An employment discrimination lawsuit dismissed for being a fraud on the court secured a second chance at the Fourth District Court of Appeal, which reminded trial judges Wednesday they should only label pleadings bogus in extreme circumstances.

The appeal revolved around Michael Gleman, who sued after being suspended from the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners for allegedly making false statements at a meeting. Gleman claimed he was actually disciplined for blowing the whistle on improper conduct, according to the opinion, and he was ultimately fired over complaints that contractors had allegedly made about him.
