In Broward, there’s a threat to blow up the courthouse or a hurt a specific person every few months, according to Chief Broward Circuit Judge Jack Tuter.

Tuter never took these lightly, but even more so after Monday, when the Earle Cabell Federal Building in Dallas, Texas, came under attack, sending court officials and employees fleeing. Staff from the clerk’s office and prosecutors with the U.S. State Attorney’s Office there were in the line of fire as bullets sprayed the building before police shot and killed 22-year-old Brian Isaack Clyde before anyone else was hurt.
