A legal fight over housing regulations for a nontraditional family has come to a nontraditional ending.

Hartford on Wednesday abruptly withdrew its 19-month-old court case against the owners of 68 Scarborough St., a 6,000-square-foot mansion in the city’s historic West End. Eight adults and three children, many of them unrelated, have lived there since 2014.
