Henry Shook v. Ashley Bartholomew; Henry Shook v. Eastern Connecticut Health Network: An 89-year-old World War II veteran has been awarded nearly $1.8 million by a Hartford jury after breaking both hips when another driver allegedly ran a red light and hit his vehicle.

Both the vet and the woman he collided with blamed each other for running a red light at a busy Manchester intersection, though police ticketed plaintiff Henry Shook. It wasn’t until a couple years later that one of Shook’s lawyers found a pair of witnesses who backed his claim that he did not cause the crash that nearly took his life.
