With the death toll nationally at 31, a fungal meningitis outbreak remains a concern to the 14,000-plus people who received what they thought were injections, mainly for back pain, of a steroid made by a Massachusetts-based drug manufacturer.

In Connecticut, only one facility — Interventional Spine and Sports Medicine in Middlebury — administered shots with the tainted steroid to roughly 40 patients. None of them have fallen ill, at least as of yet. All of them have been contacted by health officials.
