U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan of the Southern District of New York on Thursday partially granted a request from attorneys for former President Donald Trump that they reopen discovery to examine plaintiff E. Jean Carroll’s knowledge of the litigation funding in her case, but he refused to move the trial date.

Trump’s attorneys have tried twice this week to delay the trial, which is set to begin on April 25. His lawyer Joe Tacopina, of Tacopina, Seigel & DeOreo, on Tuesday, filed a separate request for a one-month adjournment of the trial date, which is still pending. Tacopina argued the delay was necessary for a “cooling off period” given the intense media coverage of Trump’s recent indictment.
