Thanking a veteran for his or her service is an honorable thing to do this Veterans Day, but a more substantial gesture may be proffered in the form of pro bono legal assistance to former service members facing struggles on the home front.

U.S. Army veteran and attorney Charles D. Ray, a partner at McCarter & English’s Hartford branch, said in an interview this week that he is proud of his firm’s commitment to pro bono work, a significant portion of which is dedicated to veterans through The Veterans Consortium, a Washington, D.C.-based global charity.
