The U.S. Senate confirmed Connecticut state Judge Omar Williams to the federal bench on Thursday in a 52-46 vote.
Williams, who will serve on the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut, previously was a state public defender for 11 years before former Gov. Dannel Malloy appointed him as a Superior Court judge in 2014.
