We, as a country, are experiencing difficulty right now dealing with our racist history and its effects. Housing inequality is just one of the manifestations of that history. Perhaps the midst of a pandemic of epic proportions is not the best time to confront housing inequities, or perhaps it is. There is, in fact, no better time than right now. Housing in Connecticut is severely segregated, and that segregation limits the opportunities many have for a good education and a good start in life. There is movement afoot to correct that situation. Correcting centuries of unequal and unfair housing opportunities will not be easy, so the sooner we start, the better.
