The former police chief and director of personnel for Bridgeport, Connecticut, have both pleaded guilty to rigging the city’s 2018 search for a new police chief, the Manhattan U.S. Attorney’s Office announced Monday.

In a statement, prosecutors said that Armando Perez had admitted to conspiring with David Dunn, the city’s personnel director, to steal questions from the city’s police chief exam and otherwise throw the search to ensure that Perez was selected to lead the Bridgeport police department.
