Pet health wellness company PetIQ has fired Robert Michael Herrman, whom Idaho authorities charged in June with attempting to strangle his wife during a domestic dispute.

The company said in a Securities and Exchange Commission that it dismissed Herrman on Aug. 2 “without cause” after placing him on administrative leave following his June 25 arrest. The company categorized his removal as “without cause,” a move that entitles Hermann to about $450,000 in severance so long as he complies with various restrictions in his employment agreement, including a non-compete.
