Julie Jacobs, who joined HP Inc. as chief legal officer in October, received a $9 million stock grant on the day she came aboard, the company disclosed in its latest proxy statement.

Jacobs jumped to the computer maker after one year as Yahoo’s general counsel. She also was general counsel at Verizon Media from 2017 to 2021 and spent a 16 years before that at America Online, starting as chief counsel in 2004 and rising to general counsel in 2010. After Verizon acquired Yahoo for $4.48 billion in 2017, she led the integration of Yahoo’s and AOL’s legal departments.
